Typically Social Enterprises start with a group of people who share a common vision. People convinced “there is another way” and who are determined to find it. The very name “Social Enterprise” implies that this is a group thing not just one person’s idea. Never-the-less in the realisation of the vision there are often “prime movers”. People with time, energy, and commitment. Furthermore to initiate a group is one thing, to take it forward to become a sustainable enterprise, is another. On this page you will find the stories of a few of Leicester’s Prime Movers.
Dave says he only became a ‘prime mover’ by default when in the four years after incorporation the other two organisations ceased to trade and the other people involved moved away. And that is of course how LSEC came to be a “consortium” with only one member – SHARP.
